Anand K. Yadav, PhD

Dr. Anand Krishna Yadav is Professor and Director of
Biotechnology and Graduate Programs in the College of
Agriculture, Family Sciences and Technology at the Fort Valley
State University (FVSU, Fort Valley, GA), a State and Land-
Grant University, the University System of Georgia. Dr. Yadav
has more than 45 years of Horticulture Research experience
along with 15 years of educational/research experience in the biotechnology of
medicinal and nutraceutical plants. From Jan 1976 through Oct 2010 he served FVSU
in various academic positions. From 1993 to 1994, Dr. Yadav chaired the Biotechnology
Working Group of the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS); from 2002 to
2003 he was chair of the Herbs, Spices and Medicinal Plants Working group of ASHS
and developed a Workshop on Medicinal Plants whose popularity revitalized bioactive
plant research. From 1998 to 2009, he served as an Associate Editor of HortScience, a
bimonthly research Journal of ASHS. From 1998 to 2002, he was on International
Advisory Board of Asian Agri-History Foundation and from 2004 to 2008, he served on
the Board of Directors of WAVES (World Association for Vedic Studies). In 2007, Dr.
Yadav convened and organized a 4-day International Symposium on Medicinal and
Nutraceutical Plants held from 20-23 March at the Fort Valley State University. Since
then Dr. Yadav has been instrumental in organizing a scientific/professional society to
serve and promote research on medicinal plants. As a result, with the help of 8 founding
members he established American Council for Medicinally Active Plants (ACMAP)
which was registered on 1 Sept 2009 in the State of Florida and held its first Annual
Conference in July 2010 at the Rutgers University in New Jersey. He was elected the
First President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACMAP in Jan 2010. There
are over 250 publications, 165 professional presentations and one edited book to his
credit. He earned his B. Sc. Hons. (1965) and M.Sc. (1966) from University of
Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, India, and Ph.D. (1972) from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, Illinois, USA.
