Amyn M. Rojiani, MD, PhD
E.R. Pund Distinguished Professor / Chairman of the Department of Pathology, Medical College of Georgia, Georgia

Dr. Amyn M. Rojiani has recently joined the Medical College of Georgia as the E.R. Pund Distinguished Professor & Chairman of the Department of Pathology. He received his MD from the University of Karachi and completed his,PhD and residency at the UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, followed by a fellowship in Neuropathology at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He was Professor of Pathology and Oncology at University of South Florida and Director of Neuropathology at the Moffitt Cancer Center since 1998. Dr. Rojiani is widely published, primarily in neuro-oncology. He serves on a number of editorial boards,grant review panels and recently completed a term as Vice President of the American Association of Neuropathologists. Dr. Rojiani’s research is directed towards understanding the role of vasculature and host microenvironment in the development and growth of CNS metastasis, particularly from lung cancer. Interactions of tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases and the range of downstream factors modulating angiogenesis and tumor kinetics are of particular interest. He has also been involved with preclinical investigations of a variety of vascular targeting agents, many of which are currently in clinical trials. He is actively engaged with the Georgia Tumor Tissue Repository. Supported by the Georgia Cancer Coalition and MCG Cancer Center, the Repository is a vital statewide resource supporting cancer research in Georgia and part of the BRAG-Onc framework.
