David Wynes, PhD

David Wynes is the Vice President for Research Administration at Emory University. In this position, Dr. Wynes serves as the chief administrative officer responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the infrastructure that supports the research mission of Emory University. He oversees the Office of Technology Transfer, Office of Sponsored Programs, Office of Research Compliance, Office of Clinical Research, the Institutional Review Board (human subject research), and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee.
Prior to moving to Emory in February 2007, Dr. Wynes was at the University of Iowa for 16 years where he was the Senior Associate Vice President for Research. Other work experience includes positions at Boston University, Tufts University, the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory, and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole.
Dr. Wynes currently serves on the Board of Directors of Georgia Bio, as the Chair of the Council on Accreditation at the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR). He holds a BA and MS in biology and a PhD in zoology.
