John W. Sharkey is the Vice President of Business Development for Sciele Pharma, Inc. His group is responsible for all activities related to identifying and assessing partnering opportunities, including acquisitions and licensing. Prior to joining Sciele Pharma, Dr. Sharkey served as the President of Ophthalmic International and prior to that spent 16 years with Novartis Pharmaceuticals in increasing positions of responsibility on both the pharmaceutical development and commercial sides of the business.  Dr. Sharkey earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Buffalo and his B.S. in Chemistry from the State University College of New York at Oneonta
