Michele M. Molden, FACHE
President and Chief Executive Officer, Piedmont Heart Institute


Michele Molden is known as an innovative problem-solver with 30-plus years of progressive leadership in healthcare, achieving significant organizational and bottom-line results. Michele is known for creativity, thoroughness of planning, team-building and resourcefulness in achieving goals.

In August 2007, Michele was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Piedmont Heart Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. Michele is responsible for the development of the financially and strategically integrated partnership of over 60 cardiologists and Piedmont Healthcare to form one of the largest employed cardiology groups in the country. The physician-managed and physician-governed Piedmont Heart Institute includes the acquisition of assets of the three largest cardiology groups in metropolitan Atlanta. Michele’s responsibilities include achieving the goals outlined in the business plan to create a destination site in the southeast and beyond for cardiac services. She also is responsible for coordinating the clinical, new business development and physician practice entity into one cohesive institute.

Before her promotion, Michele served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Piedmont Heathcare. In this role, Michele was responsible for development, human resources, information systems and materials management, as well as existing areas of marketing and public relations, business development and outreach services. Michele’s previous experience included serving as Executive Vice President of Business Development for Piedmont Healthcare, a 600-bed hospital system in Atlanta, Georgia. Michele was responsible for guiding the system in setting strategic direction and evaluating new business opportunities.

Prior to joining Piedmont Healthcare in December of 2002, Michele served as Senior Vice President for Outreach Services in Olympic Health Management, Bellingham, Washington, where she was responsible for outreach to insurers, providers and consumers. Olympic specializes in insurance products for Medicare beneficiaries. During her five years with the organization, Michele worked closely with hospitals and physicians to enhance the level of products and services provided by Olympic.

Before joining Olympic Health Management, Michele was Vice President of Planning and Marketing at Saint Joseph’s Health System in Atlanta, Georgia, where she coordinated marketing and development activities, including a regional and local sales force.

Michele received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology at Miami University in Cincinnati, Ohio. From basic research, Michele developed marketing and product line management as a corporate focus for Meridian Diagnostics, a medical device manufacturer. Michele received her MBA from Kennesaw University in Kennesaw, Georgia.
