Al Lauritano
Director, Business Development, BD Technologies


Al Lauritano is Director, Business Development for BD Technologies.  He joined BD in 2003 and directs a team of business development professionals responsible for technology transactions, development and commercialization in the fields of diabetes technologies, parenteral drug delivery, biosensors and cell engineering.  He is also responsible for strategic planning and managing BD's life science incubator, the BD BioVenture Center, established in 1999 to foster partnership with innovative companies emerging from regional academic centers.  He served as BD's Board representative to the Chemical, Biological and Radiological Technology Alliance, an Industry-Gov't BioDefense consortium.  He is a active member of Licensing Executive Society and Association of University Technology Managers.

 Al has worked for over 30 years in the life science industry.  Prior to joining BD Technologies, he held executive business development positions at Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Icagen and D-Pharm Ltd. where he established collaborations with pharmaceutical and biotech companies and was responsible for all in and out licensing transactions with companies and universities.  He was also responsible for strategy and transaction activities in Europe and Japan.  His career was launched at Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals where he served in senior clinical, marketing and business development positions in the US, Europe and Japan.  While at Novo Nordisk, he helped expand the US organization's presence into new therapeutic areas.  He has published in the field of diabetes and holds an MSc Pharmacology from Rutgers University.
