Todd T. Sherer, PhD
Associate Vice President for Research and Director, Office of Technology Transfer, Emory University
Dr. Sherer is currently Associate Vice President for Research and Director of the Office of Technology Transfer at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been in the technology transfer profession for 15 years and held positions at a number of universities. Before coming to Emory, Todd was the Director of Technology and Research Collaborations at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. He earned his Ph.D. in Toxicology/Molecular Biology in 1991 from Washington State University where he studied gene expression in the developing brain. Todd became a registered patent agent with the US Patent and Trademark Office in 1995. He has been an active speaker at technology transfer and other commercialization forums and is a former Board Member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). His recent efforts in technology transfer have been focused on finding new ways to create value in university technology as well as creating mechanisms to fund the achievement of proof-of-principle milestones in biomedical research discoveries. A direct result of those activities has been the formation of pre-seed and seed-stage funding mechanisms.
