Dan Myers

Dan is highly visible and well respected in the ophthalmic community. Prior to Alimera, Dan was a founding member of Novartis Ophthalmics (formerly CIBA Vision Ophthalmics) and acted as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and later as President from 1997 through 2002. During his tenure as President, the Company launched the prescription drug Visudyne, the fastest ophthalmic drug in U.S. history to reach $100 million in sales, and Dan managed a diversified organization with 275 employees and $250 million in annual revenues. Dan has over twenty years of sales, marketing and general management experience in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical industry through tenures with Novartis, Allergan, and Johnson & Johnson. In addition to the Novartis Ophthalmics start up, he participated in the successful start-up of Iolab Pharmaceuticals (Johnson and Johnson's 1987 entry into the ophthalmic pharmaceutical industry), which grew to $70 million in annual revenues before being acquired by CIBA Vision for approximately $300 million. Dan has been a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Corporate Advisory Council for the past five years, active in the Foundation for Fighting Blindness and was a recent Board Member of Prevent Blindness America. In addition, he has served on the Carter Foundation Board of Councilors in Atlanta. Dan has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Tech.
