Albert E. Heacox, PhD
Senior Vice President Research and Development, CryoLife, Inc.

Dr. Heacox is currently Senior Vice President of Research and Development and also serves as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Aurazyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CryoLife, Inc.  He previously served as Vice President of Laboratory Operations from June 1989 to December 2004 and has been with the Company since June 1985.  Dr. Heacox was promoted to Senior Vice President in December of 2000.  Dr. Heacox has been responsible for developing protocols and procedures in both cardiovascular and connective tissues, implementing upgrades in procedures in conjunction with the Company’s quality assurance programs, and overseeing all processing and production activities of the Company’s laboratories.  Prior to joining the Company, Dr. Heacox worked as a researcher with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and North Dakota State University, developing methods for the preservation of cells and animal germ plasma storage.  Dr. Heacox received a BA and a MS in Biology from Adelphi University, received his PhD in Biology from Washington State University and completed his post-doctorate training in cell biology at the University of Cologne, West Germany.
