We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to participate in HIV DART 2010, which will build upon the past successes of the
DART series of international antiviral drug discovery and development meetings. HIV DART will be held on December 7-10, 2010 in Mexico. The selection of this meeting locale helps to highlight the scientific and medical community’s resolve to continue to vigorously participate in the battle against HIV/AIDS being fought in the region.

Because advances in treatment have transformed HIV from being a fatal disease into a long-term chronic condition, the number of individuals requiring life-long therapy is increasing. There are more than 40,000 new cases of HIV diagnosed each year in the USA and the need for HIV drug development extends worldwide. With the recent setbacks in HIV vaccine research and huge advances in therapeutic modalities, some scientists are boldly contemplating paths to HIV eradication while others are developing optimal preventive approaches. Furthermore, intense global access to treatment could reduce viral transmission and the development of resistant viruses.

HIV DART addresses all these issues in a relaxing and stimulating environment where basic and clinical scientists can freely challenge norms and become champions of innovation.
