Porterage and Room Attendant Gratuities
Please note that, for the duration of your stay, bellman and room attendant gratuities are included in your fees.

Customs and Immigration
After departing the plane, proceed through Immigration. You must have your passport in hand. Visitors are given a tourist card valid for 30 days. You must keep this document safe and return it to the Mexican Immigration official upon departure.  After showing the necessary documents you will then proceed to the baggage claim area.  After claiming your bags, all visitors place their bags on an X-ray conveyor.  An official will ask you for your Customs Declaration Form (previously filled out on the plane) and will tell you to push the button on the traffic light. If the red light appears, they will search your luggage. If a green light appears you may proceed to the exit, or a search could still be conducted.  Beyond customs you will find a currency exchange as well as car rental agency desks.  When ready to leave the terminal, pass through the sliding glass doors.  The aggressive people approaching you at this point are time share representatives located inside the building – it is NOT necessary to stop.  Continue walking and pass through the next set of glass doors displaying a sign for “GROUPS”.

If you are planning a transfer to the hotel by taxi, please proceed to the taxi desk.   If you have pre-arranged transportation continue all the way outside.

Airport Transfers
The Hilton Los Cabos is 25 minutes by car from San Jose Del Cabo International Airport (SJD). If you do not plan to rent a car, The Hilton Los Cabos recommends that delegates book their transfers through TransBaja.com.

To make a reservation please visit:  http://sjdloscabosairport.com/transportation/

Shuttle Transfer to Zone 2 - location of Hilton Los Cabos
Roundtrip Cost per person:
$28.00
Private Transfers (up to 7 persons) - Roundtrip Cost:
$150.00

Transfer gratuity is at the discretion of the guest.  Due to federal vehicle licensing laws in Los Cabos, it is very important to reserve this transportation a minimum of 24 hours prior to your arrival. The hotel is required to file a private car transportation agenda with the authorities. If this filing is not in place, taxi service will be your only option.

Taxis
Taxis are located directly outside of the terminal.  Please stop by the taxi desk and pay for your taxi in advance. You will be given a receipt to present to the driver.  Proceed all the way outside and to your left where you will see taxis waiting. The taxi fare to the Hilton will be approximately $70 per car. Fare from the Hilton to the airport is approximately $35 per car.

Visa/Passport Information
All persons traveling to Mexico are required to have a valid passport.  San Jose Del Cabo International Airport is an international port of entry to Mexico and as such it is regulated by Mexican and international laws and treaties. Every country in the world has a treaty with Mexico detailing what is necessary for the citizens of that county to enter into Mexican territory. Please check with your travel agent or with the Mexican Embassy in your country about the documentation and visas you need to enter Mexico.

Please note that this information is general and can change at any time. Additional information can be found on the World Travel Guide website: www.worldtravelguide.net.  If you have any questions we recommend you talk to your travel agent or the nearest Mexican Consulate in your country.

The HIV DART 2010 Secretariat will not be responsible for any cancellations or delays caused by authorities due to a lack of Visa or other required documentation.

Electricity
The electrical supply in Mexico is 127 volts/60 cycles standard, and electrical appliances use plugs that are two-pronged and flat (such as those used in the United States and Canada).  If you will need to use an adapter, please be sure to use an appropriate transformer as well.

Currency
The local currency is the Mexican Peso. However, the United States Dollar is widely accepted throughout Los Cabos.  All major international credit cards are accepted.  VISA and MasterCard are the most widely accepted. American Express is accepted in some stores and restaurants, but VISA and MasterCard are preferred. The Discover Card is not yet accepted. Foreign currency and traveler's checks can be exchanged at the San Jose Del Cabo International Airport foreign-exchange office.  Cash-point machines accepting major international credit cards, domestic ATM cards and charge cards are available at the Hilton Los Cabos. Cash is dispensed in Pesos.

Tipping
In restaurants, hotels, taxis, hairdressers and so on, gratuity is not included in the price. Although optional, tips are readily accepted and a general guideline is between 10% and 15% of the bill, depending on the quality of the service. Hotel and airport porters will take, depending on the luggage you have, US$ 2.00 - 4.00.
