Conference Focus
The focus of HIV DART 2004 is to assemble clinicians, researchers and basic scientists together to advance our knowledge of the ongoing drug development processes in antiretroviral research. HIV DART 2004 will uniquely blend the areas of biology, chemistry, pharmacology and clinical research to provide the scientific community an increased understanding of the current and future challenges in therapeutics for HIV infection.

Conference Objectives
The Scientific Committee has designed the Conference program to ensure that the delegates achieve the following objectives:
  • Understand the role of viral targets in the drug development and discovery process
  • Identify novel therapeutic agents and viral targets
  • Understand the consequences of Co-infection with hepatitis on the management of patients with HIV infection

Target Audience
The Conference is open to anyone interested in HIV therapeutics. However, the content of this Conference was developed to interest primarily physicians, clinicians, scientists and clinical researchers in infectious diseases.

DONALD SANGSTER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MONTEGO BAY
The Ritz Carlton Rose Hall is located on the north coast of the island of Jamaica and within a 15-minute drive of the Donald Sangster International Airport (MBJ).

Please be sure that your flight is booked to arrive at the Donald Sangster International Airport (MBJ) and NOT Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport (KIN). If you fly into the Kingston's Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) you will have to drive in excess of 4½ hours to reach the hotel.

Directions
FROM Sangster International Airport, Montego Bay

  • Exit the Airport's main drive. Turn left at the Texaco Petrol Station. (Remember to drive on the left)
  • Proceed toward the round-a-bout, then continue left unto Queen's Drive for approximately 6 miles.
  • Make no turn off, you will pass Flankers Community, Ironshore, Holiday Inn Hotel and the Half Moon Resort.
  • The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort is the second left turn after you have passed the Half Moon Shopping Village. (Look for our well manicured lawns, and our beige colored perimeter fence.)

    **Please note that when driving in Jamaica that drivers are required to drive on the LEFT.

VISA/PASSPORT INFORMATION
All visitors to Jamaica must carry a valid passport. For those traveling with persons under the age of 16, an original birth certificate is required from the minor. For minors traveling without either a parent or legal guardian, a passport and a letter of authorization are required from their parent/legal guardian. We advise you to contact the appropriate government authorities or Consulate to your country in order to facilitate all travel and visa requirements.

During your flight, you will need to complete an Immigration and Customs Declaration form. Upon arrival at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, you will pass through Immigration, where you will submit the Immigration Form to the Immigration Officer and a stamped copy will be returned to you. It is imperative that this stamped copy remain with the passport (or travel documents) and not be misplaced as it will be required for departure.

Once the Immigration process is complete, you will proceed to the baggage claim area, retrieve your luggage and pass through the Customs inspection area. The approved Customs Declaration form will be submitted to the Customs Officer in its entirety.

ELECTRICITY
The electrical supply in Jamaica is 110 volts/50 cycles standard, and electrical appliances use plugs that are two-pronged and flat (such as those used in the United States and Canada).

CURRENCY
The local currency is the Jamaican Dollar. However, the United States Dollar is widely accepted throughout Jamaica. An ATM machine, which dispenses US dollars, is located on the Ritz Carlton property located just outside the business center - east of the lobby.

TIPPING
Visitors should tip 15% for taxis, personal services, room service and restaurants where a service charge is not already included in the bill. Parking attendants, bellboys and porters also expect a tip; US$1 per bag/drink is customary.

The Organizing Committee strongly suggests that you register early to ensure your confirmation, as registration will close when the capacity of the venue is reached. Priority will be given to persons submitting an abstract.

On-line registration is available on this Conference Website. Alternatively, you may download a printable, faxable registration form. Registrations sent via E-mail cannot be accepted.

Cancellation Policies

  • Please note that cancellation of registrations postmarked on or before
    OCTOBER 11, 2004 will incur no penalty.
  • Cancellation of registrations postmarked after OCTOBER 11, 2004 and on or before NOVEMBER 12, 2004 will incur a fee equivalent to 50% of the registration payment. 
  • No refund of the registration payment, including the one night's hotel deposit, will be issued for cancellations postmarked after NOVEMBER 12, 2004.
Official Language
English will be used throughout the Conference. Simultaneous translations will not be made available.
Letter of Invitation
International registrants who require a letter of invitation to obtain a travel visa may contact Informed Horizons directly by email at info@informedhorizons.com. Please include your name, address, fax number and note requesting a letter of invitation. Delegates from China should also include their passport number, date of birth and gender. All letters of invitation will be sent by fax unless otherwise requested.

Scholarship Fund
The Organizing Committee wishes to ensure that all scientists working in the HIV field are able to attend this Conference to the benefit of their future research.

Provided funds are obtained through corporate support, several partial or full scholarship funds have been created to contribute toward the costs incurred by attending this Conference. Preference will be given to those applicants who are submitting an abstract and are post-doctoral fellows, nurses, assistant professors, or a resident of a developing country.

To apply for a scholarship, please email the Conference Secretariat and include a letter from your mentor/supervisor indicating your need for a scholarship as well as a copy of your passport or driver's license.
