Scholarship Fund The Organizing Committee wishes to ensure that all scientists working in the HIV/AIDS field are able to attend this Conference to the benefit of their future research. Provided funds are obtained through corporate support, several partial or full scholarship funds have been created so as to contribute toward the costs incurred by attending this Conference. Preference will be given to those applicants who are submitting an abstract and are post-doctoral fellows, nurses, assistant professors, or a resident of a developing country. Please contact the conference secretariat if you wish to apply. You must also provide a letter from your mentor/supervisor indicating your need for a scholarship and a copy of your passport or driver's license. Content
Abstract Format Category For purposes of review and programming, abstracts are divided into topical categories. Selection of the most appropriate category is important as it determines who reviews your abstract. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reassign your abstract to a more appropriate category.
Title Use a short and concise title that indicates the content of the abstract. Capitalize the first letter of each word except prepositions, articles, and species names. Species names should be spelled out at first use. Italicize scientific names of organisms (example: Staphylococcus aureus). For therapeutic agents, only generic names may be used (no trade names are permitted in abstract titles). Authors Authors' names should be entered using the full last name followed by the first initial(s), with presenting authors in bold type (e.g. Coker, PM, Ballard, JM, and Deutsch, AP). Affiliations All affiliations should be referenced with superscript numbers. Each author should be listed by institution, city, and state (2 letter postal abbreviation) or country. Keywords Provide up to three keywords. These keywords are completely independent of each other and should be able to stand alone in the index. Words should be lowercase, except for genus names and proper nouns. Contact Information The presenting author must enter a complete address to ensure that correspondence arrives promptly and easily. Abstract Notifications Notifications of acceptance and format of presentation (oral or poster presentation) will be November 17, 2000. It is the responsibility of the corresponding/presenting author to inform all co-authors of the disposition status. If you have not received notification by Monday, November 20, 2000, please call +1 678 395 0029. If an abstract is accepted, one author is expected to register for the conference and present the paper as scheduled. Guidelines for preparing your poster presentations will be sent if your abstract is accepted. It is suggested that all accepted posters be set up prior to Monday, December 18, 2000. A poster viewing reception has been planned for Wednesday, December 20, 2000. The presenter must be at his or her board for an assigned this reception. Oral papers are scheduled with 10 minutes of slide presentation followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Published Abstract Book Accepted abstracts will be standardized in font and presentation. Abstracts will NOT be edited in any way. Thus, any error that appears in the submitted abstract will appear in the printed abstracts. Subject to availability, copies of the Abstracts on CD and the Abstract Book will be available for sale after the Conference:
