CONFERENCE FOCUS

The focus of HEP DART 2005 is to assemble clinicians, researchers and basic scientists together to advance our knowledge of the ongoing drug development processes in the treatment of hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

HEP DART 2005 will uniquely blend the areas of biology, chemistry, pharmacology and clinical research to provide the scientific community with an increased understanding of the current and future challenges in therapeutics for hepatitis infection.

Conference Objectives

The Scientific Committee has designed the Conference program to ensure that the delegates achieve the following objectives:

  • Understand the role of viral targets in the drug development and discovery process
  • Identify the next generation of inhibitors of viral hepatitis
  • Assess the impact of resistance and treatment failure in the drug development and discovery process
  • Increase awareness of the clinical impact of antiviral agents
  • Understand the consequences of co-infection with HIV on the management of patients
  • Assess the role of vaccines and therapeutic vaccines in future therapies for viral hepatitis

Target Audience

The Conference is open to anyone interested in therapies for viral hepatitis. However, the content of this Conference was developed to interest primarily scientists and clinical researchers in the infectious diseases.

Accommodation Rates

The Fairmont Orchid Hawaii is able to offer two options of rooms to suit the needs of the Conference delegates. The rates listed below are for single or double occupancy and include state and local taxes, which are currently 11.416%. Such taxes are subject to change without notice.

Run of House Nightly rate: SOLD OUT
The Run of House rooms encompass 522 square feet, a private lanai, and include 1 king, or 2 double beds.

Run of Ocean Nightly rate: US$210.58
The Run of Ocean rooms encompass 522 square feet, a private lanai with an angled view of the ocean, and include 1 king, or 2 double beds.

Group rates as outlined above will be in effect for the nights of December 11 through December 14, inclusive. Extensions prior to these dates are subject to room and rate availability.

Airport Transfers

The Fairmont Orchid Hotel is located approximately thirty-five minutes from the Kona International Airport. If you do not plan to rent a car, the Fairmont has an exclusive transfer shuttle service that is offering a special rate of $25.00, per person, each way, to all HEP DART attendees. The $25.00 is inclusive of all taxes, tips and baggage handling. Travel

Please be sure that your flight is booked to arrive at the Kona International Airport (KOA) and NOT Hilo International Airport (ITO). If you fly into the Hilo International Airport (ITO) you will drive in excess of 2 hours to reach the Fairmont Orchid Hotel.

REGISTRATION

The Organizing Committee strongly suggests that you register early to ensure your confirmation, as registration will close when the capacity of the venue is reached. Priority will be given to persons submitting an abstract.

On-line registration will be available on this Conference Website. Alternatively, you may download a printable, faxable registration form. Registrations sent vial E-mail cannot be accepted.

Cancellation Policies

  • Cancellation of registrations received on or before October 10, 2005 will incur no penalty.
  • Cancellation of registrations received after October 10, 2005 and on or before November 10, 2005 incurs a fee equivalent to 50% of the registration payment.
  • No refund will be issued for registrations canceled after November 10, 2005.
Official Language

English will be used throughout the Conference. Simultaneous translations will not be made available.

Please include your name, address, fax number and note requesting a letter of invitation. Delegates from China should also include their passport number, date of birth and gender. All letters of invitation will be sent by fax unless otherwise requested.

Scholarship Fund

The Organizing Committee wishes to ensure that all scientists working in the hepatitis field are able to attend this Conference to the benefit of their future research.

Provided funds are obtained, some partial, full, and travel scholarship funds will be created so as to contribute toward the costs incurred by attending this Conference.

Post-doctoral fellows, nurses, assistant professors, underrepresented minorities, and residents of developing countries are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. Preference will be given to those applicants who are submitting an abstract.

Please send your request for scholarship to the conference secretariat if you wish to apply. You must also provide a letter from your mentor/supervisor indicating your need for a scholarship and a copy of your passport or driver's license.
